Ignite The Dark’s

The Pleasure Principle in review

This year’s Ignite The Dark performance The Pleasure Principle proved to be the biggest and most responsive production that the company has yet to present. Ranging from misinterpreted controversy all the way to some absolutely amazing reviews (please see below).
Thankyou to everyone who came to watch and support the production, it was a pleasure to perform and the audience reactions were absolutely overwhelming. Plans for our next production are already underway so watch this space.

Theatre People review by Nick Pilgrim:
Reality television shows like So You Think You Can Dance, Dancing With The Stars, and Australia’s Got Talent are currently dominating the airwaves. So, it is probably no accident Ignite The Dark’s co-creators seem to have pitched this show at lovers of Graham Murphy, Twyla Tharp, and beyond. This is the seven deadly sins for the MTV generation.
For lovers of contemporary dance and the drama of theatre itself, there is something for everyone. This is indeed a vibrant, high – octane experience. Don’t miss out.

Australian Stage review by Vivienne Mah:
The Pleasure Principle aims to titillate but also provoke curiosity to the fantasies, the everyday scenes proposed which the audience can relate to – and it certainly does. Littered with quotes to reinforce the narrative’s ideas on hedonism, submissiveness, and all in between, it’s easy to be swept away in an elegant visual portrayal of the darker side of our psyches.
